february happenings

Well, in our household, we are anxious for spring. Since the middle of December we have had colds, infections, the flu bug, and more colds again in our home. It will be so nice when the weather is warmer and we can open windows and go for walks and enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of spring. Can you tell I love spring?? We missed it last year because we headed off to Texas in the beginning of April and there was still snow on the ground a week before we left. (Crazy to think that a year ago we were packing/planning for our 3 month stay in TX!) While in Texas, we had about 2 weeks of springish weather and then it was right into summer. Only to come back at the end of June and have another 3 months of summer weather. So we anticipate spring with a passion! It will be here soon. Not too much has happened since my last post. We are looking forward to having our counter top installed this Saturday by our brother-in-law. We will post pictures of that when it is finished. Then it will be new hinges & knobs for the cupboards, the trim and new window coverings, then the kitchen is done!

Ethan loves wearing these goggles, look at how they make his ears curl (since he put them on himself)

Seth is pretty excited that he can bounce a basketball!

lego furniture that Seth and Grandma built (couch, chair, table, TV, lamp, bed, dresser)
Seth has so much fun building with lego and he comes up with the neatest creations too.

more home renovation updates

It has been a busy week here in our home. We had issues with our septic tank so we had the Vandenburg's over to fix the problem. The boys were absoluetly mesmerized by the mighty machine we had in our back yard! I should have taken a picture of their faces glued to the window! It was so cute to see. The problem is fixed! It was just a broken pipe, so it is now replaced and works good again.
We also had our flooring replaced in the kitchen, dining area. The original floor was old, fading and had a bad odour to it. It was so dirty too. Even after washing it, you would not want to wear your good white socks on it, or they would be very dirty! On Thursday the new floor was installed. And we love it so much. It looks so nice! We are happy with the outcome. Next, is the counter top. It is already made and in our basement, just waiting to be installed. That will take place in the next couple of weeks. Then it is a bit of trim painting, new trim, baseboards and window treatments. Stay tuned for the next update! :)

What a difference a little bit of paint and new flooring can do to a room!

kitchen renovations

Paul and my brother Jay started working on the kitchen renovations last week. It sure was messy for the week, but well worth it! Here are a few before, during and after pictures. The after pictures are not totally finished since the new flooring is going to be installed next Thursday and the counter tops are ready to be picked up. It should be completed (or mostly completed) by the end of February. I absolutely love the new paint colour, since it really brightens up the kitchen. I will post more pictures when it is all finished, until then...enjoy!

birthday boy

Seth turned 5 on Tuesday. It is just amazing how fast the time goes. It seems like yesterday he was that little baby in our arms and now he is so big. Hard to think what he will be like in 5 more years from now. It will be here before you know it! We had a lovely time of celebrating his birthday and he even had a special supper of waffles, bacon, and strawberries (his favourite!). What a special person he is and we are blessed to have him in our family!

Christmas 2008

The Christmas break was a busy one for us. With the sudden death of my Grandma, we had a visitation day and funeral right before Christmas. It was a sad time, yet joyful since she is no longer in any pain and is with the Lord. We are thankful for that. The funeral gave us time to spend with some of our cousins, and our uncle and aunt from the US. Below are pictures from our Christmas gatherings. It starts with Seth's JK program and then family gatherings. Enjoy!

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas season and blessings for 2009!
